Berg/Hill Wedding

The boys sang beautifully this afternoon for Jonathan and Elizabeth's first event as a married couple. I dare say it would have all fallen apart had we not been there... There would have been no question about the marriages' authenticity had Jordan Narkates had serenaded all with "Your Smilin Face."  I guess we'll have to suggest it to Mr. Berg next time Jonathan and Elizabeth marry each other.

Well done boys and blessings to the happy couple!

Chelsea Runout Concert - Almost There!

Our first concert together! What a blessing to be part of Chelsea's first concert and in such a beautiful room. Led by our fearless leader, these boys will do very well in the boy choir country of the Czech Republic.

Below: singing "Romance," Uncle Ken, Romance soloist Ben Dow's closeup, and the boys looking professional... mostly :)

Great job juniors! And Susan! Our future is very bright with this boys and the fearless BBC musical braintrust at the helm.

Above: the Juniors!, TB's singing Lonesome Valley - great job Camp Wilhelm!, and the SA's singing Shenandoah - well sung Roger (BBC alum currently at Rhodes)!

The BBC has two scheduled performances in Prague.  There will be two concerts in Pilsen (or Pilzen), a city in western Bohemia, in the Czech Republic.  It is west of Prague, and the 4thlargest city in the Czech Republic.   Pilsen has been selected to be a European Capital of Culture in the year 2015, it is also twinned with Birmingham, Alabama.  The Birmingham Boys Choir is invited to sing, as part of this celebration.   The choir will then travel to Regensburg, Germany, and sing for morning worship in the Regensburg Cathedral, the site of the oldest Boys choir in the world!  The Regensburg Boys Choir was formed in the 900’s.  There will be random acts of singing throughout the tour.  We have 39 choristers traveling with Birmingham Boys staff and 10 chaperones.  The Choir has been under the leadership of Ken Berg for over 37 years.  The choir has grown to more than a hundred boys from 30 different schools.
The Birmingham Boys Choir is among the elite civic boy choirs in the country. Affiliated with the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), the BBC draws its diverse membership from all corners of Birmingham.  Celebrating over four decades of concerts, tours, competitions, civic events and weddings, the BBC repertoire of classical, contemporary and sacred selections appeal to audiences everywhere.  Every other year an ensemble of the BBC tours as ambassadors of the city of Birmingham, Alabama.  Membership is open to boys between the ages of seven and seventeen.

“What a wonderful surprise to find such a high quality, Royal School of Music Boys Choir right here in Birmingham! It has been a great pleasure working with these fine young boys – obviously superbly prepared and lovingly trained.” – Richard Westerfield, Former Conductor, Alabama Symphony Orchestra.
